Digital Incubator

Do you have an idea for a digital media product and the skills to develop it, but require support to get your project off the ground? If this sounds like you then submit your project concept to the Dept.9 Digital Incubator.

About Us

Dept.9 Digital is a division of Dept.9 Studios which is an emerging entertainment company based in Edmonton. In addition, the studio group includes Dept.9 Entertainment, which focuses on the production of original film and television. Dept.9 Music is a publisher for music artists and produces & engineers audio for screen-based projects. All divisions of Dept.9 Studios are based out of our 26,000 square foot facility.

Dept.9 Digital Incubator is a physical space in our facility where teams will be provided the resources required to develop the winning project. We will have additional developers working on in-house projects and creating digital components to accompany our film and television projects.

Dept.9 Digital’s incubator will focus on interactive digital media projects including, but not limited to; mobile games, indie computer games, XR (VR, AR, MR) experiences, applications, interactive media and more. The incubator will also consider applications for innovative enterprise software that falls outside the interactive digital media umbrella, especially if it would benefit media companies. A typical applicant will be one who is close to graduating from a computer science or digital media and IT degree program or have worked in the industry for a minimum of three years.

Phase 1

Phase 2

Phase 3

Candidates pitch in front of an investment panel in a “Dragon’s Den” style competition.
